PSA continues promoting...

"Outstanding Photographs from Young Photographers" Program

Goals: To involve the Society, its Chapters and PSA members in the promotion and education of photography among young people, especially within the Society's area of influence, by highlighting outstanding photographs from high school and pre-college age students.

Participation: All PSA Chapters, PSA member Camera Clubs and PSA member Camera Club Councils participating in annual selections of high schools in their geographic areas are invited to submit entries. Only entries through PSA member groups will be accepted.

Submission Procedure: Each participating chapter, club or council may select from each high school, six 8" x 10" or 8" x 12" un-mounted photographs or digital prints, two entries in the Photographer's Choice Category and one each for the four remaining categories listed below, either black and white or color prints. A participating chapter, club or council can work with a single high school or multiple high schools. Two participating groups cannot receive separate entries from the same high school.

The Five Selection Categories:  (1)  Photojournalism  (2)  Human Interest (3)  Architecture  (4)  Landscapes or Waterscapes  (5)  Photographer's Choice

Rules for Submitting Entries:

1- Photographs selected from high school work which has been either supervised, juried, or certified by the submitting PSA member group are eligible for entry.

2- Photographs must have been taken by the entrant but the film or digital image can be processed and the print can be made by another party or commercial source. Entries are not restricted to any one film size.

3- Print entries shall be no smaller than 8" x 10" nor larger than 8" x 12" inches in size, either with or without borders, and submitted un-mounted.

4- No fees will be charged to participate in this program, however, if you require return of your entries, postage for such a return must be included. No entries will be returned without adequate postage included with each submission.

5- Now is the time to take action for this year. Please fill out all parts of the entry form. One form is required for each entry. Cut form apart where indicated and tape to the back of each corresponding entry. Do not write directly on the back of the photographs.

Letter From Kathleen Z. Braun, APSA (PSA Special Projects Youth Group Advisor),
The main goal of the PSA Youth Showcase is to reach out to young people who will someday be the mainstay of the Photographic Society of America. Working with high school students helps make them aware of our organization. And the rewards for each club and its members is related to the degree of involvement with the school, church group, 4H, or scout group in their area.
Information on working with high school age students (including home-schooled) can be obtained from:
Kathleen Z. Braun, APSA
PSA Special Projects Youth Group Advisor
Pkzbraun@aol.com
James J. Baker, APSA
VP PSA Chapters, Clubs and Councils

The entry rules and forms are also posted on the PSA web site along with the winners of this year's showcase.
PSA Chapters, Clubs and Councils, this is a great opportunity for your members to become involved in a rewarding activity ... Promote Youth Photography!
